ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Capital has been placed on ‘red alert’ after a deadly blast in Multan claimed 11 innocent lives on Sunday night.

The sources said that high security measures have been taken in Islamabad as Army, Rangers and police personnel have been deployed on the rooftops of all government buildings.

The heads of all police stations have also been directed to maintain high vigilance in their respective areas.

Likewise, a ban has been imposed on parking of motorcycles within the premises of the all main government buildings while the employees were being thoroughly checked at the main gates before entering.

It comes after a blast took place on Vehari road of Multan on Sunday night when a motorcyclist carrying explosive material collided with a rickshaw. Resultantly, at least 11 people lost their lives while 59 others sustained injuries.

Being the capital of the country, Islamabad has always been considered as highly sensitive city and efforts are underway to keep it secure of all types of violent incidents.

Earlier on Saturday, a joint operation was conducted by Rangers and police personnel in Tarnol and its adjacent areas near Islamabad during which, a number of militants belonging to a banned terrorist outfit from Swat were arrested.

The security personnel also seized a huge cache of weapons from the possession of militants.
