ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Islamabad on two-day official visit to Pakistan.

During his visit, the US secretary of state would hold meetings with Pakistan’s political and military leadership including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, and discuss bilateral relations and the regional security situation.

The ministerial meeting, the second since the revitalized Strategic Dialogue was announced during Kerry’s August 2013 visit to Pakistan, serves to advance shared interests in a stable, secure, and prosperous Pakistan and acknowledge the US-Pakistan partnership’s role in promoting regional and international security.

On Thursday, the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said during her weekly media briefing in Islamabad that visit of the US Secretary of State John Kerry would initiate a new round of Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue.

The spokesperson said that and the entire gamut of Pakistan-US relations will be discussed.

In addition, she said that regional issues and international situations will also come under discussion during the strategic dialogue.
