PakistanJUI-F, JI join hands in effort to restore peace

LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamaat e Islami (JI) have agreed to work together in an effort to restore peace in the country, the consensus arrived after both parties’ chief held a meeting in Mansoora on Saturday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

In a joint press conference, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and JI chief Syed Munawar Hassan said that all the political leaders are invited to attend an all-party conference (APC) being hosted by the JUI-F on February 28.

Meanwhile, the JUI-F chief said that he would meet PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif as part of his party’s efforts to restore peace in the country including the federally-administered tribal areas (FATA). He was of the view that peace in Pakistan is linked with FATA’s stability.

“I will meet Nawaz Sharif on February 25 and invite him to attend the conference,” he said.

On the occasion, Syed Munawar Hassan said he fully supports Rehman’s initiative for peace and announced that he would attend the JUI-F’s APC.
