PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Friday gave a time line for different packages of the Peshawar Rapid Bus Transit Project, and directed for the fulfillment of all requirements under the project for the expeditious initiation and completion of the project.             Â
While presiding over a high level meeting regarding Peshawar Rapid Bus Transit Project, the Chief Minister also directed to float tenders for all three packages by April 30. He said that tenders should be floated for the first two packages by April 15 and the 3rd one by April 30.
Pervez Khattak directed that the evaluation of the project should be completed within 8 days and mobilization in 15 days.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, administrative secretaries, head of strategic support unit, Sahibzada Saeed, representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and others.
The meeting was informed about the practical steps so far taken under the Peshawar Rapid Bus Transit Project.
It was informed that three depots would be established at the main Chamkani terminal, Dabgari Garden and Hayatabad for parking, workshop and allied services required for the project.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister said that this project was his passion and a challenge asking the participants of the meeting to work hard and inform him of any hurdle in the whole process.
The Chief Minister directed to expedite the land acquisition at different sites of the project including depots and commercial activities should be planned there. He also directed to allocate Rs 700 million for the land acquisition etc. He said that 380 vehicles of different size would be required for the project.
Khattak directed to plan commercial activities including parking plazas and the award should be given on competitive bidding adding that all work should be time bound and the payment should be made transparently.
The Chief Minister said that Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) should establish special team for the project to undertake financial and billing etc.
Pervez Khattak said that work on the project should be continued round the clock and the depots and shopping plazas should have enough space for commercial activities so that the project could be run on commercial line.
The meeting decided that the District Nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim would be the chief executive of the company of the project and the ADP would provide financial help.
