PakistanMQM suspends its three members

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has terminated basic membership of its local party member for violating the party discipline, a statement issued by the MQM’s coordination committee says.

The party has also suspended Coordination Committee members, Saleem Tajik, Shakeel Omar, and Farooq Saleem who is former member of MQM’ Karachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC).

The MQM chief Altaf Hussain says the decision was taken as part of the process of cleansing unwanted elements from the MQM.

The Coordination Committee said that the accountability process started on the instructions of Altaf Hussain, and the inquiry conducted has led them to the conclusion that the in-charge of the KTC of the party, Hammad Siddiqui, has violated the party discipline.

“The basic membership of Hammad Siddiqui has been terminated and the party has issued instructions to MQM workers not to maintain any direct or indirect contact with him,” it said.

Altaf Hussain announced on Wednesday that the process of cleansing undesirable elements from the MQM had commenced and the same would continue till all the unwanted persons were purged from the party.

This was stated by the MQM chief during telephonic conversation with members of the party’s Coordination Committee at the party’s headquarters `Nine Zero’, Azizabad.

On this occasion, Hussain warned that as there is complete ban on the collection of donation in the party, any office-bearer or worker of the party was found guilty of collecting donation from anyone, including traders and pushcarts, would lose their basic membership of the party.
