RAWALPINDI: Former President Pervez Musharraf, who was rushed to a military hospital in Rawalpindi yesterday after he suffered heart problem while en route towards the special court hearing the treason case against him, is under treatment in intensive care unit (ICU), his counsel Ahmad Raza Kasuri said.

Talking to media representatives in Rawalpindi on Friday, Kasuri said that Pervez Musharraf’s medical reports will be available with his legal team on Sunday, adding that these reports will be presented after consultation in the special court on Monday.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, initial medical report including blood tests and angiography suggested that the former president is suffering from a heart disease.

According to media reports, the report will be sent to UK for review. Moreover, reports said that Pervez Musharraf was undergoing extreme mental stress which led to the chest pains and his current medical condition.

The former president was shifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday after he suffered heart problem on his way to the special court to appear before it for the treason case.

The three-member special court had ordered him to appear in court and warned that warrants for his arrest would be issued in case of failure to comply with the court’s orders.
