Musharraf’s counsel Rana Ijaz submits apology in special court

ISLAMABAD: A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab formed to try former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason resumed its hearing of the case on Friday, during which the counsel of former president Rana Ijaz submitted a written apology in the court.

On March 11, Rana Ijaz had said before the court that he had received life threat from Lyari gang and presumed that Justice Arab was behind it. He had demanded registration of an FIR against the judge.

Subsequently, the court had banned his entry into the courtroom and forwarded the matter to the Pakistan Bar Council for taking disciplinary action against the counsel.

During today’s proceedings, the Supreme Court Bar Association President Kamran Murtaza submitted the written apology in the court on behalf of Rana Ijaz. Following submission of the apology, Musharraf’s counsel was granted entry in the court.
