ISLAMABAD: Despite the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SC) orders, former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s counsels were not given access to the APML chief who is currently in Chak Shahzad sub-jail, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
“After waiting for an hour we are going back in protest. This will be brought to the notice of Supreme Court that despite its orders we were not allowed to meet our client,” Kasuri spoke to reporters outside the farmhouse.
“I have to appear before the court at 11:30 but the situation is that authorities are shifting us from one channel to another. They are obeying Punjab government’s orders,” Kasuri claimed.
Earlier, the Supreme Court heard the arguments of former military ruler’s lawyers including advocates Qamar Afzal, Ibrahim Satti and Ahmed Raza Kasuri and allowed them to meet Musharraf, and adjourned the hearing till 11:30am.
A two-member bench comprising of Justice Jawwad S Khawja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain took up five identical petitions against Musharraf seeking his trial under Article 6 of the Constitution for imposing emergency and subverting the Constitution in 2007.
Musharraf, who is also the head of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), was placed under house arrest at his Chak Shahzad farmhouse which has been declared a sub-jail by the court due to security reasons.
The former army supremo returned last month after nearly four years of self-imposed exile to take part in May 11 general elections despite the possibility of arrest on various charges and death threats from the Pakistani Taliban.
