ISLAMABAD: A report submitted by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to the election tribunal pertaining to the verification of thumb impressions on the votes cast in Karachi’s NA-258 constituency during May 11 general elections contains shocking revelations.

The report says that the number of total votes cast at 18 polling stations was higher than the counter files. It says that 658 voters cast more than one vote while 435 voters did not belong to the constituency.

In addition, the report says that 386 counter ballot did not have the thumb impression at all. It further revealed that a voter named Muhammad Saleh cast eight votes.

Likewise, the NIC numbers registered on the counter file no 4,680 were fake, the report stated.

It may be mentioned that NADRA verified the thumb impressions of 46 polling stations out of 287.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Abdul Hakeem Baloch won the seat from NA-258 Malir during the May 11 polls.
