Nawaz, Modi meeting underway

NEW DELHI: An important meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi is underway at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two prime ministers are discussing bilateral relations and regional as well as international issues. The two sides will also explore mean to remove tensions on the Line of Control (LoC).

The prime minister is accompanied by national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz, the special assistant to the prime minister on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi and the Pakistan’s ambassador to India Abdul Basit in the meeting.

Sharif arrived in India on Monday on the invitation of the newly elected Indian Prime Minister Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Narendra Modi’s and later he attended his swearing-in ceremony in the forecourt of the majestic Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The Pakistani prime minister is also scheduled to hold meeting with the Indian President Mukherjee.
