ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The newly-elected Senators excluding the former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday took oath in the Upper House of the Parliament in Islamabad.
President Mamnoon Hussain-nominated Presiding Officer Senator Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir administrated the oath to 51 newly-elected Senators
Since Ishaq Dar was in the United Kingdom for medical treatment;therefore, he wasn’t able to attend the oath taking ceremony.

Following the swearing-in, the newly-elected Senators also signed the Senate Roll of Members.
The Senate Session was adjourned following the swearing-in ceremony. Now nomination papers for the Chairman Senate and the Deputy Chairman Senate will be submitted in the Senate Secretariat.
The Senate will resume its Session at 4:00 pm to elect the Chairman and Deputy Chairman.
The names of the Candidates will be announced during the meeting and later a secret ballot will be held. The names of the winning candidates for the slots of the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman will be announced after which they will also take oath.
Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a session of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders for consultations over the election of the Chairman Senate and the Deputy Chairman Senate.
The Singh Governor Muhammad Zubair presented the final report on contacts with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra also presented a report regarding FATA members.
Talking to media representatives in Islamabad, the senior PML-N leader Mushahidullah Khan said Nawaz Sharif would announce the names of candidates for the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman.
Mushahidullah said PML-N had achieved the required majority in the Upper House for the Chairman Senate. He said the Chairman Senate would be from PML-N and the Deputy Chairman from the allied parties.
Earlier on Sunday, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced to support Sadiq Sanjrani as candidate for the Chairman Senate and also nominated Saleem Mandviwala for the slot of Deputy Chairman.
Talking to media in Islamabad, the Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said his party supported Sadiq Sanjrani as candidate for the Chairman Senate while Saleem Mandviwala would be the PPP’s candidate for the Deputy Chairman in the Upper House.
