WASHINGTON: The US State Department expressed hope that the meeting between US President Barack Obama and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be useful.
“US has strong ties with Pakistan and high-level negotiations between the two countries will further strengthen them,” a State Department spokesperson said.
“The United States attaches great importance to its ties with Pakistan.”
The war on terrorism is directed against a common enemy of the US and Pakistan, the spokesperson said, adding that Pakistan has lost lives of 40, 000 citizens to terrorism in ten years.
