ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said Pakistan’s vision for Africa was to develop stronger ties by enhancing trade, investment and defence cooperation and establishing joint ventures with the African countries.
He was talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Sudan Zahid Ali, who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President said Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Sudan and called for diversifying and strengthening these with countries of the African continent.
The President noted that Pakistan’s annual trade of about US$ three billion with all African countries was far below its potential and called for concerted efforts to further enhance export of Pakistani goods.
The President advised the envoy-designate to strive for regular exchange of parliamentary, business and cultural delegations, and for imparting new impetus to Pakistan’s relations with Sudan and other co-accredited African countries.
The President asked the ambassador-designate to also look after the interests and welfare of Pakistani diaspora in Sudan.
The President congratulated the ambassador-designate on his appointment to Sudan and wished him well in discharge of his new responsibilities.
