ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shibli Faraz has said that Pakistan has so far had a decent strategy against the COVID-19 pandemic and our numbers are far better than those of many developed Countries.
In his remarks at the Senate which resumed its discussion on COVID-19 on Thursday, Shibli Faraz observed that the government’s policy initially was to contain the Coronavirus and protect the daily wagers simultaneously and the economic package announced and money distributed under it was a welfare step.
Shibli Faraz, who is also the Leader of the House in the Senate, also appealed to the citizens to take all necessary precautions and not be careless.
The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Siraj ul Haq said that the government should have given more relief to Overseas Pakistanis returning from other Countries and to the local population in terms of petrol prices among other factors.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Senator Mushahidullah observed that the government should work on developing consensus across the Country in the situation.
The Senator Muhammad Ateeq Sheikh of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said that the world today is entirely different from the one of three months ago before the pandemic and the world will now move to even more digitalization and we should be prepared for it.
Senator Aurangzeb Khan said that the Parliament should lead by example and members and secretariat should follow the precautionary measures to the maximum extent possible.
The Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) said that the federal government needs to divert more resources towards Balochistan where scarcity of testing facilities, kits is being faced coupled with low distribution under the Ehsaas program.
