ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that Pakistan wants result-oriented talks with the Afghan government on terrorism to ensure regional security and stability.
“Pakistan looks forward to meaningful engagement with Afghanistan to address the challenge of terrorism,” the adviser said while talking to the European Union Special Representative on Afghanistan Franz Michael Mellbin in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on peace and security situation in Afghanistan.
The adviser briefed Franz Michael Mellbin on Pakistan’s recent achievements in counter-terrorism and economic growth.
Both sides agreed on the need for sustained efforts towards Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.
The EU Union Special Representative on Afghanistan expressed confidence that the international community would stand by its commitment made during the Brussels Conference for continued assistance towards Afghan peace, reconstruction and development.
