ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Syed Abrar Hussain has emphasized the need for intensifying bilateral cooperation in divergent fields for the betterment of peoples of two neighboring countries.

Talking to PTV News, he said that Pakistan had spent $500 million on the socio-economic development of Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan was keen in strengthening relations with brotherly nation and has increased the portfolio of development fund for Afghanistan from $385 to $500 million.

He said these funds were used for various projects in education, health and infrastructure and include construction of roads, hospitals, schools, etc.

To a question, he said that Pakistan has supported Afghanistan government in Afghan peace process for stability in Afghanistan and region.

The Ambassador also underlined the need for promoting closer cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan so as to meet the security and economic challenges faced by the two neighbours.

He said it was the earnest desire of Pakistan to see Afghanistan as a prosperous, peaceful and stable country because a peaceful Afghanistan was not only in the interest of Pakistan but of the entire region.
