ISLAMABAD: Indian troops killed a Pakistani soldier, who had mistakenly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Khol Ratta sector, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Friday. ISPR condemned the incident and called it an inhuman and brutal act of killing.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that yesterday a Pakistan army soldier, sepoy Ikhlaq, lost his way between two posts and inadvertently crossed over LOC in Khol Ratta sector.

A few civilians present close to the incident saw him being questioned by the Indians, informed own military. Indian authorities were approached to hand over our soldiers, it said.

When DGMOs of two countries spoke on the hot line this morning, Indian DGMO revealed that he had been killed by their troops. However, Indians have agreed to hand over his body today.

Sepoy Ikhlaq was resident of Kallar Syedan area of Rawalpindi. He was 22 years old and had 4 years of service.

The ISPR statement said that we condemn such an inhuman and brutal act of killing of our soldier after he had identified himself and explained his position. This is not the first such event. We have returned Indian soldiers in the past, who had similarly strayed, ISPR said.
