ISLAMABAD: One motorcyclist was killed and one other was hurt when a vehicle belonging to US Embassy located in the federal capital hit a motorbike late last night, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Friday. The US Embassy’s driver also got injured in the incident and taken to the hospital; however, he has now been discharged and shifted to his house.
The sources said that the accident occurred on Margalla Road of Secretariat Police Station. The US Embassy’s vehicle with MK 927 number plate, banged into a motorcycle, critically injuring Muzammil Shah and Shamrez, they said.
The two were rushed to Polyclinic Hospital, where Muzammil succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Mr Lupersio Perez, official DEA, US embassy, has reportedly been discharged from Kalsum International Hospital, where he was taken after he received injuries. Mr Perez has been shifted to his house, located in Islamabad, sources said.
Police has taken written surety from 3 FSNIs of US Embassy, namely Mr Babar Massih, Mr Taimur Prizada and Mr Tajammal, that they would present Mr Perez to the police for fulfilling the legal requirements as and when required.
Police has also taken written commitment from Mr Perez. Reportedly, FIR against Mr perez has not been finalized yet. Moreover, Mr Perez apparently looked fine and stable.
