ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan Wednesday informed the Senate that 61 foreign missions have issued around 21,49,710 passports to overseas Pakistanis during last five years (2010-2015).
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during question-hour, he said majority missions abroad do not have the facility to issue machine readable passports and the same would be provided there at the earliest.
He said all-out efforts are being made to regularize stay of expatriate nationals where they are facing passport related issues.
To another question, the minister said all postings of Visa Counsellors are made as per routine, saying “no special posting has been made in this regard.”
He said foreign missions are under resources’ constraint and efforts are being made to remove them in the next fiscal year.
