ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A number of ‘Iftar dastarkhawn’ have been organized by philanthropists at several places to provide free food at Iftar time in the twin cities Rawalpindi/Islamabad.

These dastarkhawans have been set up at G-9, I-8, I-10, G-7 and several other places in the Federal Capital. However, same dastarkhawans have been made available at Saddar, Peshawar Road, Faizabad and at some other places of Rawalpindi.

A large number of people beside commuters and passers-by will avail the facility of free Iftar. The tradition of free Iftar is now becoming more popular as a number individuals and organizations are coming forward to provide free food to people through these dastarkhawans without discrimination.

Faizan Ali a volunteer said that he started ‘Iftar dastarkhawan’ for commuters and ordinary people since the last two years on daily basis. However, residents of the area and some fellows also decided to contribute for ‘Iftar dastarkhawan’ during this Ramazan.

A committee comprising residents of the area has been established to look after the arrangements of ‘Iftar Dastarkhawan’, adding that Iftar will be arranged for more than 400 persons on daily basis in this Ramazan, he said.
