ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday awarded 3G and 4G mobile spectrum licenses to the successful mobile operating bidders at a ceremony in Islamabad.
In his address at the distribution ceremony, the prime minister said that the government is working on strong economic policies which will lead the country towards economic stability, progress and prosperity of the people.
The prime minister expressed the confidence that introduction of these technologies will help expedite socio-economic progress of the country. He hoped that telecom operators will provide quality services through 3G and 4G technology.
Sharif further said that introduction of this technology will help generate hundreds of thousands new job opportunities for youth.
The auction held by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on April 23 helped the government raise $902.82 million in the first auction for 3G mobile phone networks and $210 million for the 4G spectrum.
The winning mobile operators for 3G License include Mobilink, Telenor and Ufone, while Zong was declared successful for both 3G and 4G Licenses.
