KARACHI, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged the need to prepare up-gradation plan to uplift the National Museum in accordance with modern facilities.

While visiting the National Museum of Pakistan in Karachi on Saturday where he was briefed about the objective, status and future up-gradation plan of the museum, the president said that the National Museum should establish a revitalization and paper conservation laboratory and digitalisation centre on modern lines.

The president reiterated the government’s determination to upgrade the museum and its building to attract more visitors.

President Arif Alvi said that Pakistan has a rich history and is home to the great Indus and Gandhara Civilizations of the world.

The president was apprised of Museum’s history and that since its establishment in 1950 over 97,000 inventories of record of land i.e Pre -historic, Proto -historic, Late Harappan, Gandhara, and others have been preserved and put on display in 10 spacious galleries of the museum.

Dr. Arif Alvi expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken for the preservation of the rich history and culture of Pakistan.
