PESHAWAR: The Security has been put on high alert in Peshawar and its surroundings to avoid any untoward situation as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to stage sit-in protest on Peshawar’s Ring Road on Saturday against US drone attacks.
The sources said that the Ring Road has been closed for NATO supplies by placing containers, while Pak-Afghan Torkham border has also been closed.
A large number of people are gathering on the Peshawar’s Ring Road to be the part of the rally which will be addressed by PTI leader Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan and other leaders.
At least 500 policemen and several of PTI volunteers are performing the duties of security checks, while staff of Bomb disposal squad is also screening the premises.
