ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Quaid-i-Azam University’s (QAU) Mehran Students’ Council and the Hindu Community of Twin Cities held a peaceful protest and candlelight vigil in solidarity with Dr Nimrata outside the National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad on Thursday evening.
The protesters expressed solidarity with Dr Nimrata and demanded an impartial inquiry into her murder.
Dr Nimrata was near the end of completing her BDS program at Chandika Medical College in Larkana. In fact she was going to appear for her final viva exam the next day.
Sandeep Chawla, who was among the protesters, said that Dr Nimrata was hopeful of securing the top position keeping in view her past record and had already distributed sweets among her friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, later that day, she was found brutally murdered in her hostel room.
Sandeep also said that Dr Nimrata was a social activist and a staunch advocate of human rights.
