Rawalpindi, Pakistan: City of Rawalpindi has been closed down with containers placed by district administration to stop Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers to reach Lal Havali to attend public gathering.
Containers have been placed on Murree Road near Committee Chowk, Liaqat Bagh and Kachary Chowk.
Awami Muslim League (AML) and PTI are planned to hold public meeting at Lal Havali Rawalpindi on today October 28, 2016.
Meanwhile district administration has imposed section 144 that stops public for any gathering over four persons.
President of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while talking to media at Committee Chowk said that workers would perform Juma prayer at 9 different mosques and then will start marching towards venue of today’s public meeting— Lal Havali.
According to police sources PTI workers from KPK province have arrived in Rawalpindi and they are residing at the residences of PTI workers belonging to Rawalpindi.
PTI leadership is using social media tools especially whatsapp and facebook to deliver instructions to its workers.
When contacted, district administration official on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to media said that district administration was (is) ready to use force to disperse and arrested PTI and AML workers.
Sources claim that Home Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan himself is overseeing the law and order situation in the province and has ordered district administration to ensure that PTI and AML must not manage to gather at Lal Havali today.
Meanwhile, PTI sources are of the view that Chief of party Imran Khan understands that he can be arrested today but decided to reach Lal Havali at any cost. “Imran Khan has asked his workers to keep gadgets including water, face masked and medicines to face expected tear gas attack from public administration.
It may be mentioned that Islamabad police arrested over 45 workers of PTI last night in E-11 area where they were gathered for part convention. However, Islamabad administration claims that they arrested PTI workers under section 144 as they were gathered on main road.
