LAHORE: His funeral prayer will be offered in Commerce College ground this afternoon.

Journalist-poet-lyricist‚ Riaz-ur-Rehman Saghar passed away in Lahore on Saturday night. He was 72.

Riaz-ur-Rehman was under treatment for cancer for the last many days at a local private hospital.As a writer of more than 2000 ballads Saghar’s lyrical excellence manifested in many movies including ‘Kabhi to Nazar Milao’‚ ‘Chief Saab’‚ ‘Sargam’‚ ‘Ghoongat’‚ ‘Inteha’‚ ‘Mohabattan Sachian’‚ ‘Samjotha Express’‚ ‘Ishq Kuda’ to name a few.

His most popular film tracks come from the movie ‘Sargam’‚ which were primarily sung by Adnan Sami Khan and Hadiqa Kiani.

President Asif Ali Zardari‚ Information Minister Arif Nizami and PML (N) Chief Nawaz Sharif have expressed condolence over his death.
