ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: The finance ministry has released Rs4.28 billion for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan tribal region so far, says a report presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday.
KPK govt announces Ramazan package for IDPs
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a special Ramazan package for the IDPs of North Waziristan.
In a statement in Peshawar, the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak announced Rs5,000 as Ramazan package and Rs3,000 as rent for the persons displaced by the military operation.
The statement said that the provincial government hospitals have been directed to provide free medical facilities to the IDPs.
Meanwhile, the provincial disaster management authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plans to distribute the special Ramazan packages among 5,500 displaced families of the Khyber agency living at Jallozai Camp and Togh Sarai Camp in Hangu.
Each special Ramazan package contains 40Kg flour, 10Kg Rice, 10Kg Sugar, 5Kg Cooking Oil and 4Kg Tea.
The packages will be distributed in collaboration with Pakistan Army and the UAE government.
Number of IDPs rises to 759,835
The number of registered displaced families has risen to 59,705 comprising 759,835 individuals, according to the FATA disaster management authority officials.
