ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday constituted a larger bench to hear petitions filed to seek disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and others in the wake of Panama leaks.

A five-member bench headed by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will hear the case regarding Panama Leaks on November 01.

The Supreme Court larger bench also includes Justice Asif Khosa, Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Ejazul Hassan and Justice Amir Hani Muslim.

The apex court has already issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Captain (retd) Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the attorney general in the Panama papers case.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Barrister Zafar­ullah Khan of Watan Party and advocate Asad had filed separate petitions in the Supreme Court for disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister.

PTI Challenges arrest of its workers in IHC

Meanwhile, the PTI has challenged the arrest of its workers by Islamabad Police in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petition was filed by advocate Niazullah Niazi in which he asked the IHC to form a bench today for hearing of PTI’s petition seeking release of its workers.
