Seven FC personnel killed as militants attack check post in Loralai

QUETTA, Pakistan: A group of militants stormed a security check post in Loralai district of restive Balochistan province and killed at least seven Frontier Corps (FC) personnel.

The security forces said that the incident took place in Mekhtar area of Loralai district.

They said that around 40 militants attacked the check post with rockets and gunfire. Subsequently, seven security personnel were martyred.

However, several militants were also injured when the FC personnel retaliated the attack.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the militant attack on FC check post in Loralai.

The prime minister extended condolences to the families of the martyrs and expressed the resolve of the government to eradicate terrorism and militancy from the country.

Earlier, addressing the second anniversary of Alamdar Road blasts incident in Quetta, the Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said that improvement of law and order is the top priority of the provincial government.

The chief minister said that the law and order situation is not exemplary but the situation has significantly improved in the province.

“It is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people of the province,” Dr Malik said.

Dr Malik said that the plan has been prepared to capitalize on the latest technologies for elimination of crimes from Quetta city and the work will be started soon on this project.
