CAIRO: Egypt’s interim President Adly Mansour has extended the state of emergency across the country for two months over security concerns, his spokesman said.
“President Adly Mansour decided to extend the state of emergency…by two months,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Mansour had initially announced a month-long state of emergency on August 14 after nationwide clashes erupted between security forces and supporters of ousted President Mohammad Mursi when authorities cleared pro- Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins in Cairo.
