ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday directed the relevant authorities to take action against perpetrators of attack that killed 23 Shia pilgrims returning from Iran in Taftan last night.
The prime minister directed the Inspector General FC to personally lead the operation against terrorists.
Meanwhile, the Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch also strongly condemned the incidents and termed it a pre-planned conspiracy to destroy the peace of the province.
A suicide attack occurred and an exchange of fire broke out between the security forces and militants when a bus carrying Pakistani Shia pilgrims returning from Iran was attacked after it stopped at a restaurant in Taftan, a town on the Pakistan-Iran border.
The injured were shifted to the combined military hospital in Quetta for medical treatment.
A Sunni-militant group Jaishul Islam claimed responsibility for the attack.
