Three policemen killed in Hangu ambush

HANGU: Three policemen were shot dead when militants affiliated with the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) sprayed the police mobile van with bullets on the Thall-Hangu Road in the Kotki area, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 23 August, 2012.

The policemen were on a routine patrol in the area when the militants opened fire on their vehicle from two sides, killing driver Jehanzeb and Constables Mazhar Shah and Tahir on the spot, officials said.

The spokesman for the TTP, Ihsanullah Ihsan, called reporters from an unknown location soon after the incident and claimed responsibility for killing of the cops. He threatened that the Taliban militants would intensify attacks in the area.
