Two including a police man gunned down in Gilgit

GILGIT: Panic gripped Gilgit city on Sunday as firing and explosions rocked the capital of Gilgit-Baltistan during which two persons, including a police man, were killed, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 26 August, 2012.

Terrorists riding a motorbike opened fire at a police party present on duty at a check post. One cop was killed while other policemen chose to flee to save their lives, official sources said.

In another incident in Baseen area, unidentified armed men killed a man identified as Karamat. Firing incidents were also reported from other parts of Gilgit city in which a person reportedly suffered serious injuries. Meanwhile, unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade on airport road but loss of life was reported.
