Treason case: Musharraf’s applications against formation of special court rejected

ISLAMABAD: The special court formed to try the former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason on Friday dismissed applications against the formation of bench and alleged biasness of two judges of the bench.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali held that the applications filed by the former president do not fulfill the criteria of merit therefore these are rejected.

The lawyers of Musharraf had submitted an application alleging that two judges of the court namely Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Yawar Ali are biased towards their client. In another application the formation of special court was challenged.

Now the special court will hear the case on March 11 in which Musharraf will be indicted on the charges of high treason.
