The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Federal Ministry of Law and Justice have collaborated to organize a momentous two-day event, titled “Reclaiming the Space: Reading the Constitution from Women’s Perspective” which is also facilitated by the AGHS legal Aid Cell.
The event will mark the first-ever initiative in Pakistan’s 75-year history to critically examine the women’s role in the Constitution making and deliberate on the constitution from a women’s perspective.
The event will consist of an inaugural session followed by a series of accentuated roundtables under the themes of Language of the Constitution, Gender Equality, Women’s Empowerment, and Women Representation and Political/Electoral Participation.
The insights generated during these roundtables, combined with the Address by the Chief Guest Raja Pervez Ashraf, Honorable Speaker National Assembly, the speech by the Guest of Honor Mr. Azam Nazeer Tarar, Hon’ble Federal Minister of Law and Justice, keynote address by Mr. Mansoor Usman Awan, Attorney General of Pakistan, and remarks by honorable Members of Parliament including Dr. Syeda Shahida Rehmani, Hon’ble Secretary Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Hon’ble Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of law and Justice, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Hon’ble Founding Secretary of Women’s Parliamentary Caucus will serve as valuable inputs to empowers and safeguards the rights of women in Pakistan.
The event will be attending by various segments of society including academia, lawyers, politicians, and members of civil society.
