KIEV: The Ukrainian parliament on Thursday approved the leader of the Batkivshchina (Fatherland) party Arseny Yatsenyuk as the country’s new prime minister.
Yatsenyuk received a total of 371 votes in the 450-member parliament to become the Ukrainian prime minister until presidential polls are held in May.
Meanwhile, Yatsenyuk announced that he is not going to run as a presidential candidate.
The 39-year-old Yatsenyuk is a millionaire former banker who served as economy minister, foreign minister and parliamentary speaker before Viktor Yanukovich took office in 2010.
