Pakistan hopes Afghanistan not to allow any terrorist fleeing from tribal areas: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that Pakistan hopes Afghanistan as per its international and bilateral understanding‚ would not allow any terrorist fleeing from the Tribal areas to take refuge on its territory.

“Pakistan expects the afghan government and those managing security in Afghanistan to fulfill their responsibility in this regard,” Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at the weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The spokesperson said that during recent trilateral summit at Ankara‚ Pakistan and Afghanistan reiterated their commitment that they would not allow their soils to be used against national interests of each other.

FO rejects speculations Pakistan intends to supply arms to Syrian rebels

The FO spokesperson once again rejected speculations that Pakistan intends to supply arms to Syrian rebels.

“Pakistan is persistently and strongly opposed to regime change from outside through any means,” Aslam said.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz also said while taking to reporters in Islamabad that any reports relating to sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia for use in Syria is baseless and misleading. He reiterated that Pakistan’s arms will not be used in Syria.
