WhatsApp is currently working as the largest texting app in the world. It allows a lot of features like texting, audio and video calls, posting status updates, sharing media, sending voice notes, sharing polls, and a lot more. It has also been, continuously, working on improving the privacy of its users. Therefore, a whole new feature of WhatsApp chat lock will roll out soon for every WhatsApp user.
Now WhatsApp is rolling out features to protect your chats. Currently, the beta version of WhatsApp on Android (version 2.23.8.2) is testing this feature. After proper testing, all Android users will be able to use it. By using the WhatsApp chat lock option, the users will have to provide authentication with their fingerprint or password to access certain chats.
The main authentication source of the WhatsApp chat lock will be a fingerprint. However, it will also let you choose a password that could be used in case fingerprint access fails. This option will be available under the chat info option of each chat. By going there, the users can lock and hide any individual or group chat that they want to.
How Will WhatsApp Chat Lock Work?
Once a chat is locked, it will be hidden from the screen and will be sent to the vault that can only be accessed after authentication. Right now, the feature is in its testing process in the beta version. Therefore, it is not sure what will WhatsApp do if someone tries to access the chats after forgetting their password. There might be some solution for that. for sure.
Moreover, it is also not clear where will the chats go after getting locked. Also, it is uncertain as to how many chats on WhatsApp can be locked at a moment. Whether the users will get notifications for the locked chats or not. If yes, then will the content be visible in the notifications? Moreover, where will the media from these chats go? Will it appear in the phone gallery like media from all regular chats do? Or there will be a separate vault folder for the media.
There are no more details about this WhatsApp chat lock feature because it is available on WhatsApp beta. Soon, it will roll out for the mass users to add another layer of privacy to their chats.
