ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (APP): State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Thursday apprised the National Assembly that the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route from Khunjrab to Gwadar is underway adding that its the Northern Alignment (Khunjerab – Raikot Highway (335 KM) had already been constructed with Chinese assistance.
Replying to various questions during Question Hour, he said that the CPEC route consisted of a network of highways and Motorways and the government has allocated amounts for its various alignments including northern, eastern and western in the Public Sector Development Programmes (PSDP) 2015-16.
Giving a break-up, he said that an amount of Rs.20,500 million was earmarked for Thakot-Havelian 120 km (Phase-1), Rs.2300 million for construction of Burhan-Havelian Expressway (59.1 km), Rs 50,250 million for Multan-Sukkur Section (387 Km), Rs.20,000 for Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Mortorway, Rs.10,000 million for Islamabad-Mianwali-D I Khan section, Rs.2000 million for rehabilitation of D I Khan Mughalkot (50 Km), Rs.3000 Zhob Mughal Kot (81 km), Rs.2500 widening and improvement of N-85 Hoshab-Nag-Basima-Surab Road (459 Km) and Rs.2800 Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section, Gwadar-Ratodero Road, Khuzdar Shahdakot-Ratodero.
To a supplementary question, Aftab Ahmed said that Karachi-Lahore Motorway would be competed in 30 months and Prime Minister Prime Minister would inaugurate the project on December 19.
