ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The World Population Day is being observed on Friday to raise awareness about global population issues.
The event is observed annually on June 11 and this year, the theme is “Investing in Young People.”
The world’s population, as of January 1, 2014, crossed seven billion and is increasing at an average rate of 2.3 new births in every second.
China, India, USA, Indonesia, Pakistan and Brazil account for half the world’s people, while more than one in every three people are Chinese or Indian.
