HARARE: Pakistan has set a victory target of 245 runs for Zimbabwe in the first One-Day International (ODI) at Harare today.
Misbah’s with unbeaten 83 in 85 balls saw Pakistan through and helped them to a reasonable score. He’s also managed to end at a strike-rate of 97.64.
He was well supported by Hafeez with his 70 runs in 71 balls.
Earlier, Zimbabwe picked up two wickets inside the first 25 overs but that number ought to have been more, had the bowlers been backed by better catching. The Pakistan openers were let off at least once each, but to Zimbabwe’s relief, their tormentor from the T20s, Ahmed Shehzad, failed to capitalise on those chances and departed for 24. Three batsmen were let off at least once, as Pakistan scratched around to 105 but nevertheless managed to set a reasonable total for the opponents.
Pakistan on Tuesday won the toss and opted to bat against Zimbabwe in first of three ODI matches. The T20-series winner Green Shirts will also play two Tests during the tour.
