In the first match at Dharamsala, Afghanistan were bowled out for 156 runs in 37.2 overs against Bangladesh.
Being asked to bat first after losing the toss, Afghanistan had a moderate start scoring 83 runs in 15 overs for the loss of just one wicket. But later on, they lost their nine wickets for just 73 runs.
The opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 47 runs and remained the top scorer for Afghanistan.
For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were pick of the bowlers, picking three wickets each.
In reply, the Bangladesh batters were about to begin their pursuit for a small total of 157 runs in 50 overs when this story was filed.
In today’s second match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field first against South Africa.
Earlier last night, Pakistan thrashed the Netherlands by 81 runs at Hyderabad in their opening game of the World Cup 2023.
Pakistan imposed a target of 287 runs for the Netherlands to chase in allotted 50 overs. But the Netherlands were bowled out for 205 runs in 41 overs.
The middle-order left-handed batsman Saud Shakeel of Pakistan was declared Man of the Match for scoring 68 runs off 52 balls.

As of now, New Zealand are leading the Points Table with 2 points and 2.149 Net Run Rate (NRR) followed by Pakistan which also possess 2 points and a healthy NRR of 1.620.
England and the Netherland lost their opening matches; therefore, they are yet to open their account in the Points Table.
