DUJIANGYAN, CHINA: At least 31 more persons have been killed and 166 missing in flooding in western part of China due to heavy rains.

Flooding in the western province of Sichuan was the worst in 50 years for some areas‚ with more than 220‚000 people forced to evacuate.

Since Sunday, at least 46 persons have been killed due to heavy rains, according to figures from the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and transportation has come to a virtual standstill in hard-hit areas.
