DUBLIN, Ireland: Pakistan were declared winner of the two-match series against Ireland on Saturday after the second one day international (ODI) between the sides was abandoned without a ball bowled due to constant rain and wet outfield.
The match was scheduled to begin at 02:45 pm as per Pakistan Standard Time (PST); however, it could not happen as the rain continued to strike Dublin.
The Pakistani opener Sharjeel Khan was named as player of the series for his 152 runs in the first ODI against Ireland.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Ireland was also disturbed by rain and the match was reduced to 47 overs per side.
In the first ODI on August 18, Pakistan secured a thumping 255 runs victory by crushing Ireland in every aspect of the game.
In response to Pakistan’s 337 runs for 6, Irish team crumbled and was all out for only 82 runs. Sharjeel Khan’s 152 runs and Imad Wasim’s 5-wicket haul were the main features of the first ODI.
Now Pakistan will move back to England to play a five-match ODI series which will begin on Wednesday at the The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
