Pakistan’s former all-rounder Shahid Afridi will feature in the upcoming Afghanistan Premier League (APL) for “Paktia”.
The first ever Afghanistan Premier League will take place at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 5 to 21, during which, a total of 23 T20 matches between five teams including “Paktia”, “Kabul”, “Balkh”, “Nangarhar” and “Kandahar” will be played.
Besides Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, Faheem Ashraf, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Kamran Akmal from Pakistan will also be seen in action as overseas players in Afghanistan Premier League.
The 38-year-old Shahid Afridi along with Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, Andre Russell and Rashid Khan have been picked as “icon players”.

Shahid Afridi will represent “Paktia” in the event, and apart from him, Sri Lankan Thisara Perera, South African Cameron Delport, England’s Chris Jordan and Luke Wright, Faheem Ashraf, and Scotland’s Calum Macleod are also included in “Paktia” Squad as overseas players.
Sohail Tanvir will represent “Kabul”, Mohammad Irfan and Kamran Khan will represent “Balkh”, Mohammad Hafeez will represent “Nangarhar”, and Wahab Riaz will represent “Kandahar”.
A total of 31 players from different Countries other than Afghanistan will feature in the T20 event.
