ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday extended heartfelt condolences on sad and untimely demise of President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang.
The 61-year-old Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang died on Friday after a prolonged and serious illness.
Tran Dai Quang was among Country’s top three leaders but with mostly ceremonial duties.
“President and Prime Minister of Pakistan have extended heartfelt condolences on sad and untimely demise of President of Vietnam, Mr. Tran Dai Quang today,” said the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal in a tweet on Saturday.
The Spokesman further said that the people and the government of Pakistan are with the people of Vietnam at this hour of grief.

Tran Dai Quang had been serving as 8th Vietnam’s president since April 2, 2016, and had a reputation as a tough leader with little tolerance for dissent.
