ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Arshad Daad has been appointed as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General, replacing Jahangir Khan Tareen whose lifetime disqualification was upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday.

In this regard, a notification was issued by the PTI Chairman Secretariat on Monday.

“Mr. Arshad Daad, Additional Secretary General of the Party has been appointed as Secretary General with immediate effect,” said the notification signed by the Chairman PTI Imran Khan.Arshad Daad appointed PTI Secretary General

Arshad Daad was PTI Additional Secretary General before

Prior to being appointed as the PTI secretary general, Arshad Khan was working as the PTI additional secretary general.

His appointment followed the rejection of Jahangir Tareen’s review petition by the Supreme Court against his lifetime disqualification from holding a public office.

Jahangir Tareen was disqualified for life by the Apex Court under article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution on December 2015, 2018 for misdeclaration of assets. Later Jahangir Tareen filed a review petition but the Court turned down that.

Who is Arshad Daad?

Earlier Arshad Daad had been working as the PTI Additional Secretary General since May 26, 2018. Prior to that, he remained the Convenor of the Central Disciplinary Committee.

Arshad Daad joined PTI in 1996, just a few weeks after the party was formed. He participated in 1997 general elections from Gujrat.

His father Brigadier Sahibdad was a provincial minister in Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s tenure.

By profession, Arshad Daad is an electrical engineer. He did his graduation from University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore in 1971. He remained affiliated with Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) as an engineer for nine years.

Arshad Daad has been proactive in social media for a long time. A Trust is also established in his father’s name, under which supervision, primary and secondary education is imparted to orphans apart from the provision of other basic facilities.
