In the recently concluded five-match ODI series against Australia at United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pakistan suffered a whitewash. Pakistan had rested most of their first-choice players while a few of them also ousted for injury issues, paving the way for new entrants to make their international appearances.
Among debutants, Abid Ali made full use of the opportunity provided him to as he struck a century in his maiden ODI and induced the selector to take him under consideration for the world cup squad.
“Abid Ali was very impressive this tour. He came into the setup and his attitude and work ethic, the extra little bit of work he did through the tour was incredible. He’s hungry to play cricket for Pakistan,” Mickey Arthur said.
Likewise, two centuries each by Mohammad Rizwan and Haris Sohail have also already cemented their places in the mega event.
