Monitoring Desk: Azerbaijan is a priority partner of Bulgaria in South Caucasus, believes the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zakhariev
In an interview with Seymour Mammadov for Vzglyad.az and AzVision.az, she said that Bulgaria attached great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and regards Azerbaijan as a priority partner in the region in South Caucasus and the wider Black Sea Region.
She was of the view that trustful relations between the leaders of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan are of great importance for the development of the political dialogue.
Commenting on her visit to Azeri capital Baku, she informed that a wide range of issues affecting the relationship between two countries was discussed and the cooperation in the fields of energy and transport, security in the region, the situation in Iran and other important topics from the bilateral and international agendas were discussed.
She was of the view that the Southern Gas Corridor should also reach the countries of the Western Balkans, either via interconnectors or otherwise.
She believed that there are (were) opportunities for joint investments in Bulgaria and Azerbaijan and her country is ready to organize visits of Azerbaijani business delegations to Sofia and to other major cities to acquaint businesses with the opportunities for cooperation in areas such as energy, agriculture, food industry, machine building, tourism, etc.
