Pakistan awards scholarships to 69 Sri Lankan students

KANDY, Sri Lanka: Pakistan has awarded education scholarships worth 1.7 million Sri Lankan rupees to 69 Sri Lankan students of O and A levels under the first phase of Jinnah Scholarship Programme 2014.

The award ceremony in this regard was held under the auspices of the High Commission of Pakistan at the Jinnah Hall in the Sri Lankan city, Kandy.

The Central Province Governor Tikiri Banda Kobbekaduwa attended the award ceremony as the chief guest.

The award ceremony for phase II of the Jinnah Scholarships will be held on June 13, 2014 in Colombo at the Annanda College Auditorium.

The Pakistani government is awarding the Jinnah Educational Scholarship since 2005. During the past nine years, scholarships worth over 35 million Sri Lankan rupees have been awarded to thousands of Sri Lankan students.
